You can find the answers to our most frequently asked questions here, but if you're still unsure or want to double check, please get in touch.
A: We need your artwork as a vector in a print ready format, as a PDF, Adobe Illustrator or EPS file, with all text and logos outlined and a minimum resolution of 150 dpi. View our design guides and templates. Logos should be sent as an Adobe Illustrator, Vector or EPS file. Jpg images are not suitable for print.
We request your logos / artwork in this format to ensure the highest quality image when printing to ensure there is no blurriness or pixilation.
We will send your artwork for formal approval prior to any printing commencing.
Back To TopA: Due to the size of the our Deckchair slings, JPG & PNG files are too small and will appear pixelated and blurry when blown up to the correct size. These file types often have a white border around them too, which will be printed. Though we advise against using JPG & PNG files we can use them as a last resort. We will always send you your artwork for final approval before any printing commences,
Back To TopA: All our customised slings are printed on a white base fabric allowing any design you like, limited only by your imagination! There is no price difference for less colour or simple designs. For our giant deckchair, the cheaper option would be the traditional stripes (in various colours) or one of our pre-designed prints.
Back To TopA: This is a tricky one to answer because each deckchair is subjected to many different factors including weather, usage and how well it is maintained. Our deckchair fabric is sold as a consumable product so you can replace them as often as you need. Our maintenance guide has some great tips on prolonging the life of your deckchair fabric.
Back To TopA: Our traditional stripes are available in red, blue, black, green, yellow and orange. If you would like a different colour, this will be classed as a customised sling, so please visit the design your own page.
Back To TopA: Yes. Just make sure you set your artwork to the CMYK reference, and be sure to tell us the colour references so we can check they match throughout our production process. Computer screens and printers vary in how colours are displayed and may not match what the final product looks like.
Back To TopA: The visible print area for each of our Deckchairs is approximately:
Giant Deckchair 3m²
Classic Deckchair 0.6m²
Junior 0.33m²
Tiny 0.25m²
Back To TopA: Bespoke items: We wait 30 minutes until full payment has been received and artwork has been approved before starting to make your item. Please call us immediately if you change your mind within this time. After 30 minutes and up until 10:00 on the day of dispatch we are unable to refund any part of the order that is specific to you. We are able to refund the part which we can sell again i.e. a Deckchair frame. Once your order has been dispatched, you are able to return the non-bespoke item/s to us at your expense. If the item/s returned are in the same condition as they were originally dispatched by us, we will refund the value of this part of the order minus a restocking fee of 20%.
We cannot accept returns because you don't like your fabric when it arrives. We strongly advise that you order a sample of your design so that you can check that the design works (no gaps in the repeat, etc) and that the colour is as you expect. It is your responsibility to ensure that your design works; we do not check your design before we print it.
Non-bespoke items: Items that we can sell again can be refunded up until 10:00 on the day of dispatch. Once your order has been dispatched, you are able to return the non-bespoke item/s to us at your expense. If the item/s returned are in the same condition as they were originally dispatched by us, we will refund the value of this part of the order minus a restocking fee of 20%.
Back To TopA: Like all great designs we have evolved our Giant Deckchairs over the years. Our legacy frame refers to our older model made before December 2016, which has fabric that is nailed to a bar that slots into the top and bottom poles. Modern frames have material which slides side to side on the top and bottom poles.
Modern V2 frames are assembled with bolts.
Modern V1 frames are assembled with screws (sold until Dec 2018).
Legacy frames are bigger than V1 +2 and are assembled with screws (sold until Dec 2016).
We may ask you to send us photos / measurements of your frame to help confirm the correct product.
We ask you to ensure the correct sling (fabric cover) type is ordered as some customers have multiple frames. Giant Deckchairs Limited will not be liable for the incorrect sling type ordered.
If you are in any doubt, please contact us first.
Back To TopA: Yes. Frame only options are available for all our deckchair sizes. Visit our shop to view.
Back To TopA: Your deckchair is suitable for use outside all year round. However, to prolong its lifetime when not in use, we suggest you ensure it is clean and dry before folding away and storing. This applies to all sizes of our deckchairs, from Giant to Tiny.
If you have a Giant Deckchair, we recommend taking this down in high winds to avoid the chair blowing over and causing damage or injury. Treat it like a gazebo or garden parasol. You wouldn't leave these outside all year and expect them to last.
Back To TopA: Yes, it will fold flat just like a regular deckchair but a lot bigger! When folded it measures approximately 240(l) x 146(w) x 10cm(h), the stays add an extra 10cm in height approximately ¾ of the way down. A strap is included to secure the frame when folded. Alternatively you can dismantle the Giant Deckchair if space is at a premium.
Back To TopA: Grab another pair of hands to help you if you can:
A: We send out assembly instructions with each order, but if you want to get ahead of the game you can have a sneak-peek at the DIY guide to build your own giant deckchair.
Back To TopA: The Giant Deckchair can support around 250kg, approximately 3x average sized adults.
The Classic Deckchair can hold approximately 100kg.
The Junior deckchair holds 45kg.
The smallest of our deckchairs, the Tiny can support 35kg of weight.
Back To TopA: Giant deckchairs can be weighed down by using sandbags, these will need to weigh at least 2x the weight of the chair. The Giant Deckchair weighs approximately 45kg. Tying the frame to marquee stakes secured in the ground may also be suitable. Be aware that in strong winds your chair can blow over or be damaged.
Back To TopA: A fully assembled Giant Deckchair is approximately 192cm (h) x 146cm (w) x 176cm (d).
When the chairs are laid flat for storage they measure approximately 240cm (l) x 146cm(w) x 10cm(h), the stays add an extra 10cm in height.
Our giant deckchairs weigh approximately 45kg, so will need two people to safely move.
Back To TopA: We source our timber from a local, family owned company who import it from Eastern Europe. It is certified by PEFC who work to protect our forests by promoting sustainable forest management through certification. You can find out more about how PEFC are protecting forests here.
Back To TopA: All our timber is kiln dried and we treat the softwood used for our Giant Deckchairs with a preservative called Tanalith E. Unlike our competitors; this happens after all the machining has been completed to give a proper seal, ensuring your Deckchair is given the best chance to last many years. Just like your garden fence, the preservative will fade over the years and will require retreating.
Back To TopA: All our handmade deckchair frames are built in Devon to a very high standard, and come with a 5 year workmanship warranty on the assembly of the chair (conditions apply). Our products are made from sustainably sourced wood and our stainless steel and galvanised fixtures and fixings are sourced from multiple suppliers. Due to variables beyond our control, and the individual circumstances our Deckchairs are subject to, we can't offer a guarantee how long our products will last. Following our maintenance and safety guidelines will help prolong the longevity of your chair.
Back To TopA: Once we’ve had full payment, and you’ve confirmed you are happy with your artwork (if applicable) either via email or online, we will print your order. Our main print day is Tuesday. We aim to dispatch within 7-10 working days after the print day on a requested next day* delivery service.
(*while a next day service is requested this cannot be guaranteed - some parts of the UK and international deliveries may take longer).
If you have a specific deadline you are working to, please let us know as soon as possible, as we may be able to accommodate this.
Sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control, our lead time may be extended, we will post updates on our website / social media.
Back To TopA: Our Giant Deckchairs are tested to rigorous European safety standards, and our waterproof fabric is B1 fire rated. Due to the variety of settings our products are situated in and the varying requirements of each customer, we aren’t able to offer a risk assessment. Our safety and maintenance guide will help you form the basis of any risk assessment you may need to complete.
Back To TopA: We have an allocated annual budget for supporting charities so we can't offer specific discount or donations. We love to hear about your good causes though, so we may be able to support by raising awareness of your charity via our social media platforms.
Back To TopA: We require a delivery contact name, number, email address and full delivery address (including postcode) prior to booking your delivery. This ensures that there is no delay and is to avoid deliveries being refused. Please state if the property is residential or commercial.
Please note, we use various national couriers and as a result we are unable to provide time slots, or ask the courier to call you prior to delivery.
Please note the consignee is responsible for any currency conversion charges, import duty and taxes for orders.
We are very excited to announce that we have added what3words to our checkout page to give you a smoother delivery experience, so please let us know yours.
Back To TopA: You can read Giant Deckchairs & Friends detailed terms and conditions here.
Back To TopA: We run on 100% renewable electricity and only turn our printers on once or twice a week for longer print runs to save energy. We recycle the vast majority of our waste and ensure anything remaining doesn't end up in landfill. All our deckchairs are packaged in 100% recyclable materials. We opt to ‘go green’ with our couriers too whenever we can. We have a whole page dedicated to our sustainability choices.
Back To TopA: Once you've added the items to your basket you can download the total as a quote. You will need to create an account with us so the quote can be saved on our system. Back To TopA: Yes. We can often accommodate tight project and event deadlines, but we will need to know as soon as possible so we can check stock levels and prioritise our workload. We will advise you of the next steps if we can fulfil your order. We require full payment prior to production for all orders.
Email info@giantdeckchairs.com and speak to us.
Back To TopA: Yes, you can keep your fabric clean using fresh water and a gentle brush. For more stubborn ingrained dirt use some warm water (below 30°C) and a mild soap solution making sure to rinse thoroughly after. Do not use chlorine or bleach based products, or a pressure washer on your deckchair. Always allow your deckchair to dry naturally. For best results we recommend re-proofing after cleaning, with a product such as Fabsil Universal Protector.
Back To TopA: This is something we are working on, in the meantime, send us your old deckchair fabric and we’ll give you 10%* off the cost of a replacement for the same size.
*10% off your next order code will expire 2 months after we receive your old sling.
Back To TopA: The removal method for Giant Deckchairs changes depending on when the frame was purchased:
After Dec 2018 - use a 6mm allen key to undo the bolts on 1 side of the top and bottom poles. Gently lift the poles away from the frame and slide the material off. Reverse to reattach ensuring the bolts correctly catch the nut plates and the joints are tight.
Between December 2016 & 2018 - remove the screws on 1 side of the top and bottom poles. Gently lift the poles away from the frame and slide the fabric off. Reverse to reattach, ensuring the joints are tight.
Before 2016 - Legacy frames have fabric which is nailed to a bar which slots into the top and bottom poles. You can either remove the bar that the existing sling is attached to, or leave it in place and cut off the material as short as possible. We now sew a pocket into each end of the fabric which slides over the pole, instead of being screwed to it, much like our modern frames. The instructions here might help.
Back To TopA: Yes! We have standard samples that can be sent to you to show the fabric we use. If you want to check the colour likeness to your branding please contact us and confirm the colour reference you require with the HEX or CMYK colour code.
Back To TopA: Our printed deckchair material has been tested using the’ Martindale Light Fast test’ and scored a respectable 7 (out of 10). We do not expect our slings to fade, however UV rays, heat and extreme usage can all contribute to changes in the material colour. We recommend that you cover or store your Deckchairs when they're not in use to help prolong their life.
Back To TopA: The sling is the term we use to refer to the fabric / material part of the deckchair that you sit in.
Back To TopA: The deckchair seat is made of a strong, medium weight outdoor man-made fabric. We have chosen this for being the strongest printable, and scratch resistant fabric we have found on the market so far.
Back To TopA: Yes, we can make covers for chairs not made by us. You will need to provide exact measurements and specifications - photos are helpful too.
Back To TopA: Yes! We are able to print your design on fabric so you can create whatever you desire. We sell printed fabric off the roll, by the metre, with no sewing or finishing. The fabric is 150cm wide, by whatever length you need (minimum 100cm length) so bear this in mind when designing the repeat on your fabric. Contact us to find out prices.
